Caregivers

Assist clients with daily living tasks while providing companionship and emotional support.

Home Health Aides / CNAs

Provide hands-on medical and personal care, including vital signs, medication reminders, and mobility assistance.

Care Coordinators

Develop and oversee care plans, communicate with clients and families, and coordinate services.

Companion Care / PCAs

Support clients with daily activities and provide meaningful interaction and companionship.

Certification Program

Personal Care Aide (PCA)

Start your rewarding career by becoming a Personal Care Aide. Our PCA program combines online training at your own pace with in-office skills evaluation, preparing you to deliver compassionate care in residential home settings.

10 hours of online coursework + 1 day of in-office skills demonstration

Topics include medical terminology, basic human anatomy, communication skills, Alzheimer’s care, homemaker skills, and hands-on patient experience

Because we operate our own home health agency, successful graduates have opportunities for immediate employment

Requirements

  • Free course with a 300-hour work commitment with our agency
  • Must live in service areas
  • Must have a computer or tablet with reliable internet
  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Must pass national criminal background check and drug test
  • Valid TB test (skin test within 1 year or chest x-ray within 5 years)
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write in English

Training Process

  1. Complete the online application for the PCA program.
  2. Interview, screening, and background check (same as new hire process).
  3. Complete 10 hours of online training within 14 days.
  4. Attend in-office skills assessment with nursing staff.
  5. Graduate and begin your career with Upstate HealthCare Services.
